SCHENECTADY-Carolyn A. Whitehead, 82 passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Austell, Georgia, the daughter of John and Pearl Few. Carolyn retired as being a district Nutritionist for the Board of Education, supervising various schools. She was a loving mother to her children and everyone else’s. Carolyn became a foster mother in her 50’s and adopted two children, while raising five of her own children. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
Carolyn is survived by her children Zola M. Whitehead, Juanita Martin, Samuel James Whitehead, Nathaniel John Whitehead, and Ivan M. Whitehead and her adopted children Nafertitie E. Whitehead and Luis M. Whitehead. She is also survived by her grandchildren Danielle Clay (Arthur), Rachel Mcelroy (Shy), John N. Martin (Theresa), Gary L. Martin, Ivan M. Whitehead, Andrea Whitehead, Jamelliah Gaskin and Brian Whitehead and by her great grandchildren Adriauna Clay, Cameron Martin, Brandon Martin, Mariah Martin, John Martin, Jada Martin and Lyndon S. Mcelroy.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, November 26 at Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
