COLONIE – Bernard W. Gille, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late William and Ethel Gille. Bernard graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and LaSalle Institute in Troy. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Viet Nam War. Ben was a police officer for ten years with the Metro Police in Washington, D.C. in the Juvenile Division then when to work for St. Joseph’s Provincial House in Latham for over thirty years before retiring. He enjoyed riding his motor cycle, vacationing and model trains. He was a talented photographer and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Gail Gille. Benny is the devoted husband of Nadine Gille. He is the cherished father of Bernard (Tina) Gille, Jr., John (Sue) Gille, Scott (Angela) Gille, Donna Jean Gille and Carrie Lynn (John) Larson and step-father of Gary James Flaherty. Bernard is the loving brother of Joan (John) Harrington and the late Jean Gille. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 45250, Cincinnati, OH 45250, Attn: Gift Processing, in memory of Bernard W. Gille.
