Leroy E. Foley Jr. passed away Friday, May 1st 2015 at home with family and loved ones by his side. Leroy was the son of the late Leroy and Edna Foley.

Lee attended Nanticoke High School in Pennsylvania where he was Senior Class President. After high school Lee was accepted into the General Electric Apprentice Program in Schenectady, NY. Lee was then drafted in 1943 and served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. After returning from combat Lee returned to complete his apprenticeship. Lee then married his high school sweetheart Bernadine in 1946. Lee graduated from Union College in 1952 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Throughout his 42 years with General Electric, Lee had an outstanding career as an Electrical Engineer that included several shared patents in the fields of medical imaging and manufacturing. Lee was a member of a team recognized by the Smithsonian.

Lee enjoyed many things throughout his life. He had a love for Jazz and played the trumpet and trombone professionally. He was a dedicated patron of the Empire Jazz Orchestra. He also enjoyed summers at Great Sacandaga Lake with family and friends. Lee loved spending time in his workshop engineering new electronics.

Lee is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Bernadine. Lee is also survived by his children, Tina (Rick Angerami) Fisher, Marty (Wanita) Foley and Leah (Steve) Renzi. Lee is also survived by six grandchildren, Shauna Fisher, Erin (James Pfent) Fisher, Christopher (Jessica) Renzi, Michael (Cara) Renzi, Alyssa Renzi and Brittany Foley, and two great grandchildren, Cadence and Angelo.

Lee is predeceased by his siblings.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Schenectady Community Hospice and Kingsway In Home Services for all of their love and care given to Lee and his family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Schenectady Community Hospice at The Community Hospice at 295 Valley View Boulevard, Rensselaer, NY 12144.

Calling hours will be held Thursday May 7th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at New Comer Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie, NY 12205. A memorial service will be held Friday May 8th at 12:30 pm at the Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow the service at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
