GUILDERLAND-Richard A. Kutny, 68, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Schenectady, NY the son of the late Anthony and Katherine (Dowbak) Kutny. Richard graduated from Mohonasen High School and the Academy of Aeronautics. He also attended classes at Union College. Richard was employed by General Electric in Schenectady, General Dynamics in West Milton and was an accomplished Technical Engineer. He served in the US Air National Guard for six years. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and an active member of the New York Bow Hunter’s Association, Voorheesville and Iroquois Rod and Gun Clubs. He formerly ran the Youth Bowhunter Camp and coached youth soccer. Richard enjoyed cooking and socializing and volunteered at Glendale Nursing Home, sharing stories about WWII.
Richard is survived by his wife of 40 years Elsie M. (Lawrence) Kutny; children Michael (Marie) Kutny, Anna (Kutny) Jones, Eric (Katie) Kutny, Steven (Jennifer) Kutny and Amber (Aaron) Sleichter and grandchildren Emma, Samantha, Kara, Lea and Alec. He is also survived by his sister Janet Kutny, several cousins and close friends.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 9, 2015 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 3040 Hamburg St., Schenectady, NY 12303.
Interment will be at Park View Cemetery, Schenectady.
