December 16, 1960 – October 20, 2026
Glenmont, New York — William John Duell (Bill), 65, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026.
Born on December 16, 1960, to the late Hubert Duell and Ruth Francis Riley, Bill grew up in North Albany. He dedicated 30 years of service to the Albany Water Filtration Plant, where he worked as an Assistant Chief Operator.
Above all else, Bill cherished time spent with his family and friends. He loved cooking, football, camping, fishing, listening to music, and gathering around a fire with the people he loved. He lived each day on his own terms, embracing life to the fullest and finding joy in the simple moments.
Known for his humor, thoughtfulness, and resilient strength, Bill had a way of leaving a lasting impression on those around him. Among the people who meant the most to him were his best friends from childhood, the people he knew at camp and other close friends he met along the way. Bill also shared a special bond with his beloved grand-puppy, Elroy, whom he affectionately called “his little buddy.”
Bill will be remembered for his courage, his love for those closest to him, and the countless memories he leaves behind. His spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Bill was predeceased by his sister, Joanne Ryan. He is survived by his loving daughter, Jessica Duell, and son, Matthew Duell.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held in the spring, with details to be announced at a later date.
