SCHENECTADY - Willie (Stint) Stancil, 88, of Schenectady, died suddenly on February 7, 2018.
Born in High Point, NC on April 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Joseph and Emma Stancil. Willie was a graduate of William Penn High School in High Point, NC. Willie served his country honorably and faithfully in the U.S. Army.
Willie moved to Albany in the late 1940's and later to Schenectady in 1967.Willie attended the Royal Academy Barber School in Schenectady. He was the proprietor of Stancil's Barber Shop on Madison Avenue in Albany, retiring in 2014, after barbering for over 50 years.
Willie enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, fishing, 4th of July cookouts and attending yearly family reunions in North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Willie was predeceased by his stepfather, Herbert Bostic, his brother, Chester and sister-in-law, Mildred Stancil.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 68 years, Nancy Carol Stancil; loving children: Willie Jr., Terry and Reginald Stancil; Nine grandchildren: Octavia, Guy, Shanaya, Kayla, Reginald Jr., Meeko, Mayling, Anyee and Evander; Three great grandchildren: Jeremiah, Dere'on and Daniel; Nephew, Rodney (Vera) and niece, Cheryl Stancil.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 1 to 3 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. A service will follow at 3 p.m.
