Willie Johnson, Jr.

Willie Johnson Jr., born November 25, 1941, in Augusta, Georgia, passed away on September 23, 2026.

He was educated in the Augusta school system. After graduating from high school, he enlisted into Coast Guard, receiving an honorable discharge. Willie then enlisted in the Army where he was a member of the 42nd Maintenance Battalion. He was also a Construction Equipment Supervisor with the 102nd Engineer Battalion, 42nd Infantry Division.

Mr. Willie, as he is affectionately called, retired from CDTA in 2005. Willie joined Mount Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor William E. Morgan, where he served as a door keeper and sang in the Male choir. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Beverly Johnson; Corey Johnson, 3 sons; a granddaughter; 2 brother in laws; 1 sister in-law and a " special son."

A calling hour will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a funeral ceremony to immediately follow, at Sweet Pilgrim Baptist Church, 24 Ten Broeck St, Albany, NY 12210. Interment with Military Honors to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
