My father was loving, caring and kind
He may not have said the words, but his actions did shine
He'd do anything for you, that is for sure,
And his great sense of humor, bad moods did it cure
Camping was our thing to do, that's right
And sailing was always Dad's big delight
He played his guitar, most every night
By the fire burning, ever so bright
Dad was a truck driver, that was his trade
Peterbulits and Kenworths were his fave
Many a song on the radio, did he listen
Like "On the Road Again" by Willie Nelson
His motorcycles, boy, did he, take pride
Harleys were, his favorite ride
We loved, to ride with him, Mom, Kris and I
And up the mountain, we would fly
But when it was time, to come back down
We would all, be wearing a frown
Sunday afternoons, the cars would race
NASCAR, was his saving grace
It was the only time, he took a break
From the household chores, he did partake
He always called himself, a "Jack of all Trades"
But master of none? No, not he
From plumbing, to electrical, to carpentry
He did it all, with perfection and glee
Metal detecting, was his thing
But he never did find, a diamond ring
A few old coins, was all he found
But with each hole dug, in the ground
He hoped for gold, by the pound
He loved a Martini, back in the day
After a hard days' work, that was his way
To unwind, relax and renew
Some nights, he'd even drink two
Dad was a thrill ride seeker, just like me
Roller coasters, bumper cars, and things that go upside down
But he didn't like, the merry-go-round
Going in circles, made him dizzy
But I always found enough rides, to keep us busy
"You are my Sunshine", was our favorite song to sing
When I, was just a little thing
We even danced to it, on my wedding night
The father-daughter dance, was quite a sight
I will miss my Dad dearly
and always love and adore
But I know in my heart, that is aching and sore
One day in heaven, I'll see him once more
Written with love, by his daughter, Lisa Piscitella
