William Joseph Veach, formerly of Little Rock, Arkansas, and long-time lover of upstate NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30th, 2025 with his youngest daughter Guenevere and son Michael by his side. He was 84.
William “Bill” was born on July 12th, 1941 to parents Theodore and Mary Veach in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Elmont Long Island. He was a graduate of Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY, and later went on to attend Hofstra University, where he studied accounting before enlisting in the United States Air Force with dreams of becoming a pilot.
While still enlisted in the USAF, William began his career with the New York Racing Association which spanned over 30 years, before leaving to start his own private accounting and bookkeeping firm. He was formidable world history buff with a vast knowledge that never ceased to amaze those of us he enthusiastically shared his gift with, an avid lover of second breakfasts and watching the Weather Channel, masterful Jeopardy couch champion, superior steak chef, cunning Artful Dodger of cut-throat family Monopoly marathons, founder of the infamous Renard Club, our patriarchal “Martha Stewart” who always sought to elevate all he loved through fine food and his love of the finer things in life, and most importantly, fierce lover and valiant protector of his family.
In 1999 William and his loving wife, Kay, relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas, where his realization of a lifelong dream came to fruition: a home built, born beam and window under his watchful eye, whose four walls hummed with the sound of its own heartbeat of laughter and occasional heated disagreements, and whose stone hearth became a haven for his family to gather and grow. Now his legacy like a permanent monument, a testament to his love, the “Joie Des Anges”.
William is survived by his son Michael Joseph Veach (Peggyann), and his daughters Guenevere Anne Palmatier and Kathleen Mary McGuinness, and his eight grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Kristina, AJ, Aidan, Karys, Tegan, Cydney, and Rowan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Kay White, and his angel triplets shared with his previous wife, Carol: Philippe, William, and Anne.
May his every memory be a blessing and a comfort to those who knew him. Who is remembered, lives!
