William James Temple, May 18, 1946 was born in Albany, NY, to the late Sarah Temple Palmer.
In October 1965, William was inducted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Fort Jackson, SC and transferred to St. Louis, MO. He performed two years of service and achieved rank of SP5 (T) {Specialist}. During his service, he was awarded the I. National Defense Service Medal, II. Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) Decoration, III. 1st Class Gunner (M-60) Ribbon and IV. Good Conduct Medal (1st Award). William also served a tour in Vietnam and worked on the Panama Canal.
Following his discharge from the United States Army, William married Brenda S. Chisholm of Philadelphia, PA.
William worked for International Union Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 106 and retired in 2006. He also worked for the Albany County Correctional Facilities, served in the Army Reserves and was a Scout Master for the Boys Scouts of America.
We remember William as a very social, caring, helpful and kind person. William would always extend himself to individuals within the community and was a member of the Urban League and Brothers in Albany, NY. William was a loving and devoted grandfather and would support them in their activities.
William transitioned peacefully on Monday, August 4, 2025. He is survived by his five children, William J. Temple Jr. (Vontoyia) of Latham, Kisha N. Temple of Niskayuna, Reginald M. Temple (Iman) of Apalachin, Michael L. Temple (Tasha) of Albany and Jonathan J. Oquendo of White Plain.
William has 13 grandchildren, Sherod, Michael, Shekinah, Xavier, Mishayia, Sadia, Elijah, Elana, Anyis, Miani, Emmanuel, Elias and Mathan.
William was a only child but had a very close loving connection with all of his family. Especially Robert, Vincent, Rose, Lorraine, Carol and a very special brotherly relationship with his cousin, Jesse Temple. In addition, special relationships with the late Shirley, Alfred, William, Mazel and Jimmy Temple.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 10:30am - 11:30am with a service immediately following till 12:30pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road. After services, burial will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
