William P. Smith

Colonie - William P. Smith, 48, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016. Bill was the son of the late Donald and Regina Smith. He was the devoted husband to Angela Smith, and loving father to Owen Smith.

Bill worked for the NYS Department of Labor for nearly 10 years. He was an avid sports fan, and has been involved with the Colonie Soccer Club as a Soccer Dad, Team Manager, Coach of Recreational Teams, and most recently as Director of the Recreational Soccer program. He was known most for his hard work, giving of his time, and unwavering calmness. Bill enjoyed attending Siena and UAlbany Basketball games with his son and brother Don. He also loved his rescue dogs, Missy and Holly.

Along with his beloved wife and son, Bill is survived by his siblings: Mary (Kevin Williams) Smith, Michael Smith, and Donald (Laura) Smith; niece: Morgan Smith; aunt: Sister Marilyn Broderick; along with all the members of the Pause and Mazzella families, and many friends.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 28, 2016,at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Drive, Albany, at 10:00 a.m., with the burial to follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
