With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William Frederick Riley Jr., 82, of Latham, NY, who peacefully departed this life on December 17, 2025, at St. Peter’s Hospital. William was reunited with his beloved wife, the late Mary A. Riley.

Born in Rensselaer, NY, in 1943, William was the cherished son of William Frederick Riley Sr. and Mary Clemens. He was a proud graduate of Columbia High School, and his sense of duty led him to serve his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he pursued his passion for design, attending Hudson Valley Community College to study architectural drawing, a skill that would bring him immense satisfaction.

For 30 dedicated years, William contributed his talents to Mosler Safe, a bank security systems company, where his attention to detail and strong work ethic were highly valued. Beyond his professional life, William found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of home. He possessed a true green thumb and spent countless hours tending to his garden, creating a vibrant oasis of beauty and tranquility. When time allowed, he would escape to his favorite fishing spot, finding peace and quiet by the water's edge.

A playful spirit lived within William, evident in his cherished train set. Originally intended for his son, Wayne, the train set became a source of endless tinkering and creative expression during the long winter months. Above all, William was known for his generous heart and unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on his community.

William is survived by his loving son, Wayne, and his wife, Kim.; His stepchildren, Darlene and her husband, Rich, Laurie and her husband, John, and Robert and his wife, Yvette. He was a caring grandfather to his many grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Riley.
