William H. Race

William H. Race, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Bill was the son of the late Cornelius and Muriel (Smalley) Race.
He is the devoted husband to Dorothy (Hoffman) Race. They were married for over 61 years.
Bill graduated from Albany High School in 1955 and then proudly served with the United States Air Force for 4 years.
He went on to work for Niagara Mohawk for over 35 years. After retirement Bill and Dotty traveled the world for 15 years.
He was an avid golfer from the age of 13, enjoyed bowling, traveling and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son, William "Billy" H. Race, Jr.
William is survived by his wife, Dorothy; he is the adored father of; Kathryn (Kenneth) Voelker, Patricia (Robert) Bengraff, Regina Race and David (Lynne Longo) Race. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Blake, Shane (Ja Deejoho) and Dana Race, Brett and Erich Voelker, Evan Race, Griffin Bengraff, Zachary Longo and Nicole Hunter-Walsh.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at New Comer Funerals & Cremation, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. A Memorial Service will follow the calling hours at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society Memorial Processing Center 6725 Lyons St East Syracuse, NY 13057-0007, in Bill's memory.
