William L. Lyman

William Lyman, born on September 29, 1943, passed away on July 27, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, hard work, and unforgettable memories.

Bill was the beloved husband of Carmella Lyman, with whom he shared many happy years of marriage. Together they built a family that meant everything to him. He was a loving father to Michelle Lyman, Scott Lyman, and Christopher Lyman, and nothing made him prouder than being a grandfather and great-grandfather.

As a young man, Bill proudly served in the Army Reserves and as a volunteer firefighter, always willing to lend a hand and serve his community.

Bill worked hard throughout his life and built his own carpet installation business through determination and dedication. One of the things he was most proud of was building the family home—a home that became the heart of countless family gatherings, celebrations, and memories over the years.

Anyone who knew Bill knew he had a quirky sense of humor and a quick wit. He loved making people laugh and appreciated the simple things in life. Whether he was spending time with his family, enjoying a quiet day, or sharing stories with friends, those moments meant the most to him.

Golf was one of Bill's greatest passions. He loved being out on the course and was especially proud of making multiple hole-in-ones over the years.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Carmella; his children, Michelle, Scott, and Christopher; his grandchildren, Ashley Lopez, Brooks Lyman, and Maeve Lyman; and his great-grandchildren, Grayson Marx, Calloway Bassanii, and Tallulah Bassani. He also leaves behind dear friends who will miss his humor, kindness, and the love he shared so freely.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Delores Lyman, and his brothers, Edward and Joseph Lyman.

Bill's greatest legacy isn't found in the business he built or even the house he built—it's found in the family he loved so deeply. He showed those around him the importance of working hard, taking pride in what you do, and enjoying life's simple moments. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever present in the stories, laughter, and memories shared by those who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life on Tuesday August 4th 2026 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy-Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. Calling hours will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 5:00 p.m.
