William "Big Will" Figueroa

William Figueroa, 51, of Amsterdam passed away on Monday July 14th, 2025, at Albany Medical Center after months of battling multiple medical conditions. He was survived by his wife, Maria Lopez. William was born in The Bronx, New York on December 15th, 1973, the son of the late Monserrate Morales Figueroa and the late Julio Uriol Figueroa. He was the youngest of his siblings, Johnny, Joe, Lucy & Joselito. 

William graduated from The Bronx Regional High School on June of 1993. "Big Will" as we all love to call him, grew up in a Pentecostal household and attended The Church of Love Power and Grace in the South Bronx, NY with his mother Monserrate. 

William was a lover of Sci-Fi, football, anime, video games, music, and not to mention Spanish, Italian & BBQ food. "Big Will" was passionate in his profession. He worked as a security guard/ bodyguard and technology installations for protection of homes for many years. 

William met his spouse Maria at a house party in the Bronx, NY in 1994 and quickly fell in love. After several years of living together they later moved their family to Amsterdam, NY. Big Will continued his career in security and later learned many skills involving renovations and remodeling of homes with Maria after purchasing their first fixer upper. Big Will's latest profession was management at CJ Medicab. He managed drivers of the company. During his time at CJ Medicab he learned mechanical skills with their vehicles and busses.

William Figueroa is loved by so many, family, friends and his community. 

William isn’t just an amazing husband but a great father to all of his children. He was compassionate, kind, understanding, patient, and guided his children & wife in the right direction by providing great wisdom. William was a protective father, especially to his daughters and son, and a father figure to many others. 

William is our Super Hero. 

Big Will was a helpful neighbor in his community. He provided the love and support needed by family and friends. Big Will was the pillar of his family. There was nothing he couldn’t do. If he didn’t know how he’d find a way… Where there’s a Will there’s a Way! 

Forever in our hearts, never forgotten.

In addition to his wife, William is survived by his daughters, Amanda, Noemi and Mariah; his son, Oscar; his grandchildren, Josiah, Jeremiah and Ulisio; his brother, Joselito and wife, LeeAnn; his sister, Lucy; and many friends and family. 

A visitation will be held at the New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy-Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189 on Sunday July 20, 2025 from 12pm to 2pm with a funeral service to start at 2pm. The mic will be open for guests to share memories during the visitation.
