William S. Drozd, Jr. of East Greenbush passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 82 on February 26, 2026. “Bill” was born in Albany, NY on September 27, 1943. He was the husband of the late Janice L. Drozd.
He was the son of the late Bernice and William S. Drozd, Sr., brother of the late Richard Cowin, and grew up in Albany, Troy, and Unionville, NY. Bill graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 1961, where he met his high-school sweetheart, Jan. They were married 44 years and raised their family in Delmar.
Much of his career was spent as a route salesman at Tri-State Industrial Laundries, where he won many sales awards. Later, he worked at Watkins Motor Lines and retired from FedEx in 2008. Bill was not one to sit still and soon started part time jobs until his second retirement in 2020.
Anyone who knew Bill will remember his love of cars, his “girls”, many feline friends, and his beloved 1978 Chevy C-10 pickup. He attended every school concert for his daughters. He was a hard worker who loved his family. He enjoyed car shows, trips to Florida, visits to Myrtle Beach to see dear friend “Lindy” and tending his plants. He had a great sense of humor and could fix just about anything.
He is survived by daughters Karen Ward (Mike B.) and Sandy Van Vranken (Tom); granddaughter Kacey Ward; long-time partner Denise Lozano and her daughters Michele Stager (Christopher Rogers), Darlene Kramer, and Christine Kelly (Delbert Bent); Denise’s granddaughter Amari Rosas; several nieces and nephews; brothers Earl Cowin and Dennis Drozd Sr., and his feline companion Buddy.
