William F. Dobbs

COLONIE- William F. Dobbs Sr., 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born on January 8, 1941 in Watertown, NY. His parents were the late Francis and Mary Dobbs. After he graduated high school, Bill and his family relocated to Colonie, NY. In 1966 Bill married Linda Gapp. On October 22, 2016 they would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Together they had four sons. For over 30 years Bill owned and operated his own Fire and Emergency Equipment business. Bill had a passion for his company. He will be remembered for the services he provided to his customers in many communities. Bill was a 22 year member of the Colonie Fire Company, and served as chief from 1974-1976. He was instrumental in the development of the Town of Colonie Medico Services, which was the precursor to today's Town of Colonie Emergency Services.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Linda Dobbs, his four sons; William (Lisa) Dobbs Jr., Stephen Dobbs, Michael Dobbs, and David Dobbs, his grandchildren; Lindsey Dobbs, and Brandon Dobbs, his great-grandson, Alexander Dobbs, his sister, Patricia (Art) White, a cousin, and several nieces, and nephews, especially his beloved niece, Susan Watson, and his loyal canine companion, "Dexter."

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 1:00pm-4:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Ave, Colonie, NY 12205 on Monday, October 24, 2016 AT 9:00am. Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY..
