PORT SAINT LUCIE – William "Bill" Harrison Fisher, 90, passed away on the night of October 24, 2016 in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Born on December 2, 1925, on North Pine Avenue in Albany, New York, Bill was the son of the late Michael Frederick Fisher and Agnes Noble Burke Fisher, the youngest of their eleven children. Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha Karl Fisher, his daughter Ingrid Elizabeth Fisher (Peter Foland), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill served in World War II in the 23rd Cavalry of the Army. His service during wartime gave him a profound appreciation of the fragility of life and forever defined him. He later re-enlisted in the Air Force and retired with over twenty years active military service. His tours of duty include Midway Island, Turkey, multiple tours in Germany and numerous domestic bases. Following his military retirement, Bill was employed by New York State in computer operations for the Department of Criminal Justice Services, the Office of Social Services and the Office of Court Administration for a combined total of twenty years. Bill was a man of courage and conviction who deeply loved God, his country and his family.
A Requiem Mass will be held at the Church of the Holy Cross in Warrensburg, New York on Wednesday, November 2nd at 11 am. A graveside burial service, with full military honors, will follow at 2 pm at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.
