Niskayuna-Wendy J. Bowman-Lanoue, 62, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Wendy Ruth Bowman LaNoue was born on August 31, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to proud parents George W. Bowman and Sophie Churchich-Bowman. Wendy was the baby of the family with two brothers, George and Gregory Bowman. They all grew up knowing they were dearly and greatly loved by their parents.
The Bowman family moved to Niskayuna, New York, and Wendy graduated from Niskayuna High School in 1973 and went on to exercise her considerable artistic talents by creating beautiful custom embroidery patterns at LUCI custom embroidery. Wendy was born with a keen eye, abundant artistic sensibility and immaculate taste – all of which would serve her well throughout her life.
In 1976 Wendy met her future husband, Alan Joseph LaNoue of Cohoes, New York, and in 1980 they moved to Saratoga Springs, New York, to raise horses and prize-winning Doberman Pinschers and fully renovate the 19th century farmhouse and grounds. During that period, Wendy started her own business, The Fruit Lady, and there she was to utilize her considerable talents, not the least of which was her ability to establish a rapport with people and make them feel cared about. This ability to form sincere and caring connections with people would also serve her well through life.
On Valentine Day in 1982, Wendy and Alan were married and they would remain constant companions – loving and true - for the rest of her life. In 2000 they lost the farm in a tragic fire. With heavy hearts they moved to their current home on Niskayuna Drive in Niskayuna, New York. There they would continue their love of Doberman Pinschers, horses, good food, good friends and good times.
In the 1990's Wendy began an illustrious career with retail grocer Hannaford. It didn't take them long to see that Wendy loved connecting with people and was a top-notch connoisseur in all food matters. (It bears mentioning that Wendy was an incredible cook. She had a natural talent – sans-cookbook - for knowing how to make food delicious and beautiful.) It also didn't take Hannaford long to make the smart decision to promote Wendy to the position of Assistant Deli Manager.
Any biography of Wendy would be remiss if it didn't tell of her great sense of humor, compassion for others, faithfulness and trustworthiness, immense love of life and great courage in the face of life's challenges. She laughed and loved and lived life to the fullest and there are many people who will carry fond memories of the many good times they shared with a true friend. And some bad times, too, because after all, she was a true friend. Wendy is survived by her husband, Alan Joseph LaNoue, her two brothers, George and Gregory Bowman, her beloved cat, Bob, and many many friends – all of whom will love her to eternity and carry her in their hearts forever
Services will be held at Niskayuna Reformed Church, Niskayuna, NY, on June 16, 2018 at 12:00pm.
