ALTAMONT – Virginia M. “Ginger” Keleher, 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Albany on April 29, 1953 a daughter of the late George P. and Jean (Lawyer) Loux. Ginger graduated from Albany High School Class of 1971. Following high school, she married her longtime school sweetheart, James K. Keleher. They were together for 59 years before her passing.
Ginger was employed by several restaurants in the Capital District and was also owner and operator of Gin-Lins; an independent business working primarily at flea markets and fairs. Ginger also worked for several grocery stores in the area, retiring from Shop-Rite in 2018 after ten years.
Ginger enjoyed bingo, keeping a watchful eye on her family and loved to garden – her thriving field-sized gardens were evidence of her green thumb. She also enjoyed trips to the casinos and cooking.
Besides her parents, Ginger was predeceased by her sister, Nancy.
She is survived by her husband, James; her four sons, James M. (Wendy Barde), John S., Jay J. and Jake E.; her grandchildren, Ethan and Jillian; her siblings, Roger and Lori Loux and family friend Marion Keleher.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm with sharing of memories to immediately follow at 6:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner, Road, Colonie.
