Listen to Obituary

Vincenza “Enza” (Gallina) Scavio, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Italy, Enza was one of ten children born to the late Vincenzo and Antonia (Sineni) Gallina.

She was the devoted wife of the late Lorenzo Scavio, with whom she shared over 53 years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, hard work, and tradition. Enza was truly the matriarch of her family.

Lorenzo and Enza began their life together in Brooklyn, New York, where they raised their three sons before relocating to the Albany area. Alongside their sons, they opened Paesan’s Pizza, helping grow it into a beloved household name throughout the Capital Region and beyond.

Enza was a faithful communicant of Christ the King Church.

Her greatest joy was her family. She loved cooking, gathering loved ones around the table, and making everyone feel at home. The kitchen was her happy place, and feeding people was her love language. Until the very end, Enza lived life on her own terms strong, proud, loving, and unapologetically herself.

In addition to her husband Lorenzo, Enza was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Lorenzo Gregory Scavio.

She is survived by her three sons, Lorenzo Scavio, Vincent (Jodi) Scavio, and Franchi (Danielle) Scavio. She was the adored grandmother of Avarose, Lorenzo, Simona, Vincent, Rocco, Sebrina, Brooklynn, Sienna, and Hudson. She is also survived by several siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family members residing both locally and in Italy.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Avenue, Guilderland, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie, New York.

Following the services, family and friends are invited to gather at the 2SHEA caterers @Italian American Community Center on Washington Avenue Extension at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate Enza’s life, legacy, and the memories she created for so many.

Enza’s wishes were for a closed casket service and for all family and friends attending to place a single red rose beside her, creating a final floral tribute from the people she loved most.

Thank you, Mom, for the sacrifices, the lessons, the laughs, the strength, and the unconditional love. Everything we are carries your fingerprints.

With heavy hearts, the Scavio family also announces that all Paesan’s Pizza locations will be closed on Monday, May 18th, in honor and memory of our mother.

The family thanks everyone for the overwhelming love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
