Victoria A. Ramundo

Slingerlands — Victoria “Vicki” A. Ramundo passed away peacefully at home on September 23, 2026, following a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Vicki was born on February 20, 1953, in Albany, New York, to the late Vito and Joan (Myers) Ramundo. She was the middle child of seven, with three older and three younger siblings. She grew up in the Capital District and graduated from Bishop Gibbons, Notre Dame High School in Schenectady, New York. In 1981, she received her bachelor’s degree from the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York. She went on to graduate cum laude from Albany Law School in 1989, where she served as managing editor of the Albany Law Review.

Vicki had a unique and accomplished career. She began working for New York State in 1973 as a Grade 3 clerk. Early in her career, she recognized gender inequity within State Government and became an advocate for women in the workplace, helping to form the Women’s Subcommittee. The committee held classes and distributed educational materials aimed at helping women advance in their careers.

Vicki worked her way up the career ladder, reaching a management position in 1986, while continuing her education at Albany Law School. Following her graduation, she received a clerkship with the New York State Court of Appeals.

She later worked for the Public Service Commission, where she developed expertise as a telecommunications attorney. She went on to establish her own law firm, serve as of counsel to a major New York law firm, become general counsel for a start-up telecommunications company, and teach telecommunications law as an adjunct instructor at the University of New Mexico.

Yet, despite her many professional accomplishments, Vicki found some of her greatest satisfaction in advocating for the “underdog.” She devoted her time and legal skills to representing people in need through pro bono work, always willing to help those who might otherwise have had difficulty finding a voice.

Everyone who knew Vicki knew that she was a “Dynamo.” She was someone who got things done. She planned and hosted numerous family reunions and gatherings and was affectionately known as “BFO” — the “Big Fun Organizer.” She was often the driving force behind bringing friends and family together, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Vicki was predeceased by her sisters, Linda Ramundo and Debra Ramundo, and her brother, Nick Ramundo.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Chyrywaty; her stepchildren, Wendy (Michael) Falzone, Diana Chyrywaty, Mark Chyrywaty, and Tanya (Edward) Crimmins; her grandchildren, Ryan and Dante Falzone and Sophie and Brennan Crimmins; her siblings, Vito Ramundo, Michael (Barbara) Ramundo, and Marjie Bear; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and beloved friends.

Vicki’s remarkable spirit, generosity, determination, and ability to bring people together touched the lives of so many. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her, and her memory will live on through the many lives she influenced and the countless gatherings and memories she helped create.
