“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
Victoria Matejcak was called home by our Heavenly Father on May 14, 2026. Vickie was born on October 31, 1955, and was the beloved daughter of the late Victor George II and the late Gloria Page George. She married the love of her life, Cliff Matejcak, and together they shared more than 40 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, faith, and unwavering devotion to one another. Through life’s joys and challenges, they built a bond rooted in friendship, commitment, and deep love, creating a lifetime of cherished memories with their family and all who knew them.
Vickie grew up in Schenectady, New York where she built many cherished memories with her family and discovered her passion for interior design and serving adults with disabilities. She shared these gifts with her children, family, and community throughout her life. Guided by her “Big Sister” Peggy, she began her career at O.D. Heck Development Center, where she faithfully served for more than 30 years. Through her compassion, patience, and dedication, Vickie touched countless lives and became a source of comfort, encouragement, and love to those she cared for each day.
Vickie’s greatest joy in life was loving and raising her children and pouring her heart into her family and friends. She created a home filled with warmth, laughter, guidance, and unforgettable memories that her loved ones will cherish forever. Through her words, actions, and unwavering love, she instilled lessons of faith, kindness, strength, and perseverance for her family to carry throughout their lives. The love she gave so freely will continue to live on through the generations she nurtured, encouraged, and inspired each day.
Vickie loved decorating and had a beautiful eye for design and creativity. She had a special gift for turning ordinary spaces into warm and welcoming places filled with beauty and love. Whether decorating for family gatherings, holidays, or everyday living, she always added her own elegant touch. Her creativity and attention to detail brought joy to those around her and left lasting memories in the hearts of family and friends.
Vickie was led to Christ by her “Big Brother,” the late Vittorio George. She faithfully served at The Bridge Church for many years, participating in weekly Sunday services, Bible studies, and prayer meetings. She also dedicated her time to leading the Children’s Bible Study and serving through the Food Pantry, where those she helped were always blessed by her warm smile and kindness. Vickie’s joyful spirit and “can-do” attitude inspired others to serve with love, persevere with faith, and give generously from the heart. She loved telling someone about Jesus so she could help make heaven more crowded.
