Torrence Francis Jules Coffin, (Uncle T) departed this life on September 9, 2026, in Albany, New York at the age of 77.
He was born in Albany to the late Muguette (Ponty) Coffin and the late Robert G.A. Coffin Jr. on May 29, 1949.
Torrence was brother to the Late John Coffin Sr., Robert Coffin III, Anthony Coffin Sr. Gregory Coffin, Clarence Coffin and Phillip Coffin.
He leaves behind his remaining siblings, Sheila Chaffee, Patricia (Coffin) Washington, Daniel Coffin Sr., Mary (Coffin) Harris, Michael Coffin Sr., Josette Coffin as well as a whole host of loving family and admiring friends.
Torrence attended St. Philip's school and served as an altar boy at St. Phillips church with his brothers. He also attended St. Joseph’s school, Livingston Junior High and Albany High school.
As a young man, Torrence worked at various jobs most notably, as a X-Ray Technician for Memorial Hospital in Albany, New York. Most recently, (the past 16 years he has volunteered and assisted at a local daycare where he was affectionately known by the children as, “Poppy” and “Uncle”.
Visitation for Torrence will be held from 11an to 12 pm with a service at 12pm on September 17, 2026 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York 12205. Interment will immediately follow after services at Evergreen Memorial Park, 2150 Central Avenue, Schenectady, New York.
