Thomas P. Minahan, 82, of North Fort Myers, FL and Troy, NY, passed peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Tom was born on August 5, 1943, in Troy, NY. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964. He was an Airman 1st Class Top Secret Communications. Tom had 3 brothers and 4 sisters. All the boys were in the service, 3 in the Air Force and 1 in the Marines. Tom served in Westover, Massachusetts and South Ruislip, England. His time in the Air Force shaped the steady, principled man he was throughout his life. After completing his military service, Tom worked at GAF and later joined the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 7 Union working for John V. Warren, Mechanical Contractor, for 34 years, retiring in 2005. Tom bought a California Closet franchise from 1985-1992. After retirement, Tom worked many years at Satch Sales, golf cart dealer.
Tom married Trudy in 1998 and together they shared 27 years of marriage filled with love, fun, laughter, and family. They spent many years living in North Fort Myers, Florida while spending summers in Upstate NY. They were both very active in their community. Tom served as President of the Pine Lakes Men’s Club for 7 years.
He was predeceased by his brothers Robert (Harriet), Michael (late Marie) and William (Susan).
Tom is survived by his wife, Trudy, his daughters Kerry Ann (Mark) and Beth Ann (Luke), as well as his stepchildren Mark (Candy), Dianne (Ted), Donald (Jill) and Steven (Jill), 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his sisters Marion (late Edward), Carol (Robert), Judy (Leo) and Joanne (Richard). Tom has many nieces, nephews and friends that he loved very much.
Tom enjoyed cruising the Caribbean and could always be found helping others.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, April 12 from 2:00-4:00pm at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Rd, Troy, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s church on Monday, April 13 at 10:00am. Interment with military honors will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
He served his country and his family with unwavering dedication. He will be dearly missed and remembered always.
