Theresa F. Lomonoco, who was residing in Albany until the time she took ill, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2015 in Averill Park, under the loving care of her son Michael.
Theresa is survived by Joseph Lomonoco and wife Fran, granddaughter Megan, great grandchildren, Ayden, Allison, Aubrey and Austin; son, Michael Lomonoco Jr. and grandson Scott, great grandson Anthony Joseph; son Anthony Lomonoco and wife Lisa; son Vincent Lomonoco and wife Jackie; sister Vinnie Cunningham, many nieces and nephews and her canine friend Ason.
Theresa is predeceased by her beloved husband Michael, whom she married in 1944 and her sisters Josephine and Frances
Theresa was born in 1920 in the south end of Albany to the late Joseph and Josephine Zappala. She attended Philip Schuyler High School.
She worked for many years at Montgomery ward, as well as the NYS Dept. of transportation. Theresa was a communicant of Christ our Light Church, formerly St. Anthony's Parish, in Albany. She was a former member of the Italian American Club. She was an active volunteer for many local organizations until the age of 94, including the Albany international Airport as an ambassador, Italian American Heritage Museum and the Colonie Elks.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crocheting, traveling and playing bocce and cards with friends and family.
A memorial mass for Theresa will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:00 at Christ Our Light Church. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at New Comer Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresa's memory to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
