Delmar-Terrence (Terry) J Walsh, age 62, died suddenly at his home in Delmar, NY on October 26th 2016.
Terry (formerly of Schenectady NY) is survived by his daughter, Kyla Walsh and her partner, Brian Burkins also of Delmar; his parents Edward and Pauline Walsh, formerly of Niskayuna; his siblings, Lisa Crandall of Clifton Park, Tara Walsh Peterson and her husband C. Craig Peterson of Niskayuna, Michael Walsh and his Partner, Shanna Pearson of Plains, PA; his sister-in-law, Nancy Walsh of Gansevoort; his brother-in-law, Lawerence Bloch of Manhattan and his many devoted nieces, nephews and cousins.
Terry is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Bloch Walsh and his oldest brother Edward T Walsh of Gansevoort N Y.
Terry was born May 7th, 1954 in Cohoes NY. He grew up in Schenectady, graduated from Bishop Gibbons High School in 1972, and went on to graduate from both Morrisville and Plattsburgh State University with degrees in Business Administration. He lived and worked from his home office in Delmar, where he formed Shephard Co. and enjoyed a very successful Insurance Underwriter career for many years.
Terry valued family above all else. He was a devoted husband, an engaged and enthusiastic father (who never got over the joy and blessing of being one) a devoted son and amazing brother. His love, his laughter and his leadership were outstanding qualities in a life lived with passion and faith. Terry was recently diagnosed with a glioblastoma and was undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, hoping to spend just a little more time with his brave and devoted daughter Kyla, and to have more time loving us all.
The Lord had other plans and is believed to have arranged an earlier tee time on those great greens beyond. According to our brother Mike, it is to be hoped that the good Lord has a better golf swing than our brother Terry! One of Terry's favorite things in life was to get out on the greens with his youngest brother, Mike, by his side. Terry will be remembered among other things, for being crazy about his amazing daughter Kyla, religiously attending Kyla's many swimming meets and softball games, enjoying her awesome friends, beaming with pride as she was recently inducted into the National Honor Society. There was no doubt of his love of animals; most especially, his adoring dogs Badger & Whitney, his devoted kitties, Liberty and Tink, and his beloved grand-doggies, Oliver and Tucker. Terry, a friend of Bill W., had a devoted meditation practice, was an avid runner, loved nature, and will most affectionately go down in the annals of family history as a lifelong worshiper of Freihofer birthday cakes (which he loved to split down the middle with his oldest brother Ed, while his younger siblings looked on with a deep and abiding sadness and longing...a debt to be settled in the next life).
Funeral arrangements are as follows: Viewing hours, Sunday October 30th 2016 from 3 to 7PM at the New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie NY.
A mass of Christian burial will follow on October 31st. at 10AM at St. John the Evangelist, 812 Union St., Schenectady NY.
