Susan A. Smith, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Joan Nicole Prince Home, surrounded by her loving family.
Susan was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna Mary Dunton and the devoted wife of Robert P. Smith for over 14 years.
Susan was a faithful member of Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, where she shared her love of music through the choir. Music remained a central part of her life, and she found great joy in playing the piano, and singing in worship, including as a soloist. She had a deep passion for caring for others and dedicated much of her life to maternal-child nursing, serving underserved communities with compassion and kindness. Susan cherished time with her family and loved creating lasting memories with those she held dear.
In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by her brothers, Bill Dunton and Timothy Dunton.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert P. Smith; her children, Patrick (Josette) O’Rourke, Carrie (Stan) Lenic, Mairin O’Rourke, and stepson Kim Bruso; her cherished grandchildren, Christina Lenic and Theo O’Rourke; as well as several nieces and a nephew.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.
