Mr. Stephen "Fuquan" Patterson , 55, of Albany, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2016. He was born on April 8, 1961, to the late Henry Patterson and Joyce Mason of Albany, NY.
Stephen received his formal education through the Albany public school system where he excelled in his studies. In 1982 he befriended Deirdre Addison and they begin dating in 1985. They joined together as husband and wife in 1995. He was employed by the Albany Waste Management and was a porter for Colonie Center. He had a special gift for drawing and also enjoyed playing video games, spending time with his grandchildren, and helping others. He looked forward to talking on the phone for hours with his longtime friend Gaspon Hooks. His face would just light up when Gaspon called. Stephen accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and was a member of the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church on Spruce Street in Albany. He would often talk about wanting to take his wife on an Island just the two of them to get away. Stephen was a very organized man and loved house cleaning, during the final months of his life he began to draw nearer to God. He praised God daily through testimony and prayer. He never complained, always giving God the glory and thanking him for each day. He commissioned a dear friend daily to call him and just pray with him and his family never doubting God. During his final days he promised his wife that he would go to heaven and take care of her Mother.
He leaves behind to cherish his fond memories; his wife: Deirdre Patterson; mother: Joyce Mason; two sons: Kamal Patterson, and Dionte Addison; daughter: Brianne Nelson- all of Albany, NY; two brothers: Rayvaugh Mason of Ohio, and Delwone Howard of Albany,NY; sister: Melody Stewart (Cleery) of Ohio; Brothers in law: Jason, Charles (Bubbles), and Rodney Addison- all of Albany, NY; sisters in law: Kim, Denise (Beany) and Latoya Addison, Melody McGill and Sharon Chairs; a special aunt: Ruth Watson, special cousin: Nola Patterson; best friend: Gaspon Hooks; special friends: Brenda Hooks, and Pamela (Sweet Pea) Davis; along with a host of other relatives, and friends.
He is predeceased by his father: Henry Patterson; his grandparents: George and Girdie Mae Patterson, who was a big part of his life from birth.
