SCHENECTADY - Shirley Sullivan, 88, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, at her home in Schenectady, N.Y., surrounded by family.
Born and raised in Green Island, N.Y., Shirley built a life rooted in family, faith, and a sharp sense of humor. She spent most of her professional life as a dedicated personal assistant and secretary with KPMG LLP in Albany, where her attention to detail and warm presence left a lasting impression.
Shirley had a deep love for the little joys of life - reading a good book, tending to her garden, perfecting her swing on the golf course, or enjoying a game of bingo. She rarely missed a Yankees game or a Sunday watching NY Giants football. And many times, she could be found at the casino with her sister, Ann, sharing laughs and memories.
She was the beloved wife of the late Laurence Sullivan Sr., and a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister. She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Mulligan, and husband, Mike; and her son, Larry Sullivan Jr., and wife, Audrey. She is also survived by her loving sister, Ronnie; and was predeceased by her sisters, Ann, Pat; and brother, John. Shirley was the cherished grandmother of Nichole Handerhan, Michelle Jefferson and husband, Kyle, and Cory Lamour and wife, Sydney. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, Kiley, Taylor, Noah, and Addyson; and one treasured great-great-granddaughter, Scarlett Rose. Her presence was the steady heart of the family, and her legacy of love and strength will live on in each of them.
