January 10, 1935 – August 30, 2025

(Loudonville, NY) Shirley Ann LaClair passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 30th at the age of 90.

Shirley was born January 10, 1935 in South Glens Falls, NY to the late Robert and Elizabeth Newton.

Shirley graduated from St. Peter’s School of Nursing in 1955. She loved traveling with her husband, Bill and spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley and Bill were Siena basketball ticket holders and never missed a game. She was also an avid reader. Shirley loved children and when her kids were in St. Pius, she volunteered her time in the school library. Over the last few years, she cherished the time she spent with her great granddaughter, Paisley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and her brother, Robert Newton. She is survived by her children, Nan, Billy, and Jean, her grandchildren, Matthew Murray (Krista), Maeve Murray (Joe Kulewicz), Justin LaClair (Nicole), Eric LaClair, and Lee LaClair, and her great granddaughters, Paisley, Kira, and Lucy. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Nancy Thurston, her sister-in-law Sharon Newton, many nephews and nieces, and her loyal canine companion, Katie.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful, caring aides and nurses of Right at Home and Hospice. A special thanks to Sherry Stowell for all the help and care she provided to Shirley over the past couple of years, Father Mark for his constant support and help, Kim Verner for all her trusted guidance, and her wonderful friend Nora.
