Sandra "Sandy" (Sealy) Serven was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania on November 4, 1940. She entered Heaven's gates on January 31, 2018 surrounded by her husband Jesse Serven and her loving family.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Sandra was an excellent cook and she enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years, she collected a large library of cookbooks from around the world. She also loved to watch food and cooking channels. She was an avid supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and also enjoyed attending local sporting events, especially her grandchildren's games.
Sandy had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Oakwood Presbyterian Church until the church was converted into a community center. Over the years, she had become very involved with the church and assisted with numerous fundraising events. She was also a talented musician and sang alto with the church choir. She passed her musical talents on to her children and grandchildren.
Sandy was extremely artistic and often utilized her talent to design Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren, as well as annual Christmas ornaments for her family and friends.
Sandy was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Chovan of Latham, New York and her three brothers; Richard, Ronald and Kenneth Sealy of Brownsville, Pennsylvania. Sandy is survived by her brothers George Sealy of Ellsworth, Maine and Howard (Butch) Sealy of Brownsville, Pennsylvania; son Jeffrey Serven and his wife Karen from Bonney Lake, Washington, daughter Jaylyn (Serven) Abrahamian and husband Lawrence from Glendale, California, and daughter Jerilee (Serven) Beaudoin and her husband Ron from Brunswick, New York. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jaron Serven from Queens, New York, Mara (Serven) Davey from Durham, North Carolina, Lucas Abrahamian, and Hannah and Kayla Beaudoin.
Her husband and daughter Jerilee lovingly cared for her the last several weeks of her life. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Sandy their greatest gratitude.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM at New Comer Funeral Home.
