Sallie M. Eggleston

Sallie Marian (Rath) Eggleston, 87, passed away November 23, 2025 at Shaker Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany, New York, surrounded by loving family members.

Born on July 12, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sallie was the child of Wayne Rath and Emily (Barker) Rath. After growing up in Norristown, Pennsylvania, Sallie attended Kutztown State University, graduating with a degree in Art Education. Sallie went on to teach at Oxford Central School, and later used her talents in making and selling her personal artwork, such as customized Teddy Bears, and hand-painted jewelry boxes.

 Additionally, Sallie was a wonderful baker and cook who will always be remembered for her exceptional apple pies and BLT's. Sallie was a true animal lover, enjoying many pets over the years, including cats: Marv and Butch; and dogs: Teddy 1, Teddy 2, Nigel, Scotty, Sam, Ruby, Tilly, Baby, Munchy and Gizmo.

Sallie was predeceased by her husband and creative partner, Jan Howard Eggleston.

Sallie was a loving mother, and is survived by her four children: Robbin Buhner Andrews, Jonathan (Merci) Buhner, Christopher (Suzanne) Buhner, and Emily Eggleston. Additionally, she is also survived by six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a celebration of life, which will be scheduled at a later date in 2026.

Though our hearts ache, we find comfort in the memories of laughter and love that Sallie leaves behind.
