Ruthlyn V. Watt

1937 — 2025

Listen to Obituary

Mrs. Ruthlyn Violet Watt passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with Dementia.

She was originally born in Roseau Dominica on March 18th 1937 but lived most of her life in Antigua where she married her late Husband Edgar Watt and had her children. She was a wonderful wife, Mother, sister, aunt grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

To know Ruthlyn, fondly called Ruthie, was to love ❤️ her. She had a wonderful spirit infused with a contagious smile. As a Mother she was a true gem who loved her children with her whole heart, who raised them to fear God and follow his commandments to treat everyone with kindness and yet she was no pushover she hated injustice and fought for the underdog, she didn’t miss a beat in calling you out if you did not do the right thing. She would always say manners maketh man! Ruthlyn lived a life filled with purpose she graduated from Foundation Mixed school in Antigua and shortly thereafter got married and became a housewife. In terms of employment Ruthlyn held the following positions she was Chairperson of the Carnival Committee in Antigua West Indies and was responsible for training the contestants who took part in the Local Queen Shows during Carnival, she also held the position of Telephone Operator of APUA, Receptionist at the Holiday Inn and Castle Harbor. In the US she was the Laundry Supervisor for the Hampton Inn and then Homewood Suites.

She is survived by her 5 children Jerome, Francine, Beverly, Diane and Denise ..her Daughter-in-law Kelly and Son in Laws John Browarski and Freddy Deinzer..her 6 siblings Joan, Rita Arthur, Edgar, Eric, Patsy and Griffith, her brother-in-law Gerald Watt and sister-in-law Hyacinth Watt, her 14 grandchildren and 11 great grand children, many nieces and nephews and cousins.

We will miss our Mom’s presence, her warm hugs and kisses the most ..her honest almost psychic advice but most of all her competency to forgive even though it felt better to hate. And though she wasn’t perfect .. she was our blessing, God truly favored us when she became our MOM. We most definitely could not have asked for a better Mother she was not only our mom, but mom to many she would easily welcome any an everyone into our home ..much to our Dad’s chagrin, she would give the clothes off her back if she thought you were in need, and it didn’t matter if you were not ..that was one of her best traits. She was truly SELFLESS.

Our mom would want to be remembered most as a child of God, who gave her life over to Christ for she fulfilled his purpose for her here on earth that she took more pleasure in giving than receiving that she honored her parents up until their death. That she took pleasure in planting flowers for she loved nature and couldn’t understand how anyone could doubt God’s existence …she loved rainbows as they were a reminder of God’s promise. As we say good bye to you MOM we are comforted by your favorite Bible verse John 3:16 for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son Jesus Christ that whosoever believed in him should not perish but have everlasting life..and you did Mom you lived it Amen 🙏 now you are a heavenly angel 😇
