Ruth E. Panunzio

Ruth E. Panunzio, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on December 8, 2025.

Born in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Ann Walag.

Ruth was employed and retired from the South Colonie School District. She enjoyed gardening, going to the Turning Stone Casino, and spending time with her beloved dogs.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Ernest A. Panunzio.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark L. Panunzio and Michael L. Panunzio (Cynthia); grandchildren, Mark L.E. Panunzio and Ashleigh R. Bassoni (Joshua); sisters, Constance Maderios (Kenny) and Lorraine Gidley (John); and several nieces, nephews and cousins to cherish her memory.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Drive, Albany, New York, 12211, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
