Ruth C. Lapierre

September 4, 1929 — January 21, 2018

Latham- Ruth Claire Roberts Lapierre, 88, peacefully returned home to the Lord on Sunday January 21, 2018 at the Schenectady Center Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth was born on September 4, 1929 in Chicopee, MA and was the only child of the late Bernadette and Emile Roberts. One of her favorite jokes was telling people that her father said she was the cause of the stock market crash that year!

Ruth grew up in Chicopee, MA and graduated from Holy Name High School alongside her lifelong best friend Claire Booth. After high school, she met and married a handsome man named, Larry Lapierre. They became parents to five children and moved to Latham, NY in 1967. Ruth loved her work as the credit manager of the Boston Store in Latham for many years. She had a strong personal faith in God and was an active parishioner of St. Ambrose Church in Latham. Very dear to her heart was her role as the bereavement coordinator providing comfort and remembrance services for many in the parish. Additionally, she was actively involved in many other church ministries as well as serving in the Albany Chapter of Magnificat. Ruth also was the liaison for the charismatic healing masses for the diocese of Albany. She was a member of the Latham Columbiettes.

Ruth loved nothing more than seeing all her children gather together for family celebrations and holidays. She truly enjoyed yearly trips to Rhode Island and spending time at the ocean. Her grandchildren will always remember meme for her famous bingo games complete with prizes. Ruth was an avid reader and could never have enough books. She was always interested in learning new things. She welcomed any chance to travel and experience new places. Her love of dancing will be remembered by all. Our family will never know a more generous person than mom who lived to serve others and do any good in the world that she could.

Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Laurent O. Lapierre who passed away in 1979. She is survived by her loving children: David (Connie) Lapierre, Richard (Nancy) Lapierre, Paula (Brian) Platt, Paul (Karen) Lapierre and Denise Fedullo. She was the proud meme of Jodi, Mallory, Matthew, Daniel, Samantha, Sarah, Michael, Ren and Christopher.
