Ruth Knapp

Ruth Knapp, 86, wife of the late Gerald “Chickie” Knapp of Albany, entered the Kingdom of God and was surrounded by love on Monday, July 20, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief illness.

Born at home on September 23, 1939, in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Roberta Palumbi Rossi.

Ruth graduated from Phillip Schuyler High School. It was around this time she met and married her first and only love in 1959. She joined the Albany County Finance Department as a payroll specialist in the late 70’s where she retired after 40 years. She had a love for shopping from CVN, now known as QVC. Many family and friends were the recipients of these purchases.

She is survived by her daughter, Geraldine (John) Hormovitis of East Greenbush, her sister, Rosemary (Nick) Seeberger of Loudonville, and her brother, Angelo (Carol) Rossi of Natick, MA. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews as well as Alexis (Ricky) Drake.

Friends may call Tuesday, July 28, from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A memorial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3rd Ave Ext., Rensselaer, NY.
