Ruby Lee Moody entered into eternal rest on July 28, 2025, at the Hudson Park Nursing Home in Albany, New York.
She was born on June 8, 1928, in Melvin, Alabama, to the late Etta and Moses Young. Ruby was married to Robert Odell Moody for over 50 years, and to this union were five children. In 1968, as a young woman, she moved to Albany, New York, joining her brother, (now deceased), Jessie D. Young (Arlene).
Ruby was educated in the Melvin, Alabama, School System and worked in various jobs in Albany, which included the Albany Housing Authority and New York State (OGS), retiring after 15 years. Even though Grandma Ruby's demeanor was quiet, she loved getting together with family and was a great cook. Her best dishes were cornbread dressing, fried chicken, collard greens, salmon patties, and chicken with dumplings. Her home was a haven for family gatherings, especially during the holidays.
Family meant everything to Ruby, and even during her most critical days, she would name her children one by one, asking the good Lord to have mercy on them. Her faith in God was unwavering, and she trusted Him to bring her through to the end.
Ruby was predeceased by 10 siblings: Rena Banks, Nancy and Percella Young, Gladys Young Adams, Agnes, Jessie D., Albert, Verge, Moses, and Hayward Young; grandson, Steven C. Moody.
She leaves to honor and cherish her memories: five children, Robert L. Moody (Elaine), Mary Sampson (Delmorris), Cora L. Moody, Edward C. Moody (Virginia), Gladys Yvonne Murray (Fred), and a special son, John L. Luden (Rosie); 9 grandchildren, Quintin Wilcox from Baltimore, Maryland, Lisa Davis (Carl) from, Macon, Georgia, Corey Strickland, Jacquelyn Washington (Melvin), from Atlanta, Georgia, Russell Graham, Shemika Moody, Jennefer Moody and Janelle Daniels (Brian) both from Atlanta, Georgia, C.J. Murry from Charleston, South Carolina; a host of great-grandchildren; the Banks and Means families, from Butler, Alabama, and the Young Families from Albany, New York and Alliance, Ohio; a beloved sister-in-law, Arlene Young, nephew Wayde and niece Hope; her special caregiver, Nicola Moody, who was at her bedside, day and night providing professional care as she fed and dressed her; and a host of relatives and friends.
