Rosella M. Slauson, 97, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025 at Albany Medical Center.
She was born on December 13, 1927 in Troy, NY to the late Harold and Rosella (Benoit) Roberts.
Rosella was a graduate of The Academy of the Holy Names, where she boarded until 1947. Prior to her graduation, she met the love of her life, Edward LeRoy Slauson, at the Rollatorium, where he had asked her to put her skates back on for the moonlight dance. They would join in marriage on January 25, 1948. Later in life, they explored their passion for traveling, venturing to the Panama Canal, Alaska, and Glouster, Massachusetts.
She started her career in the beauty industry as owner/operator at Rosella’s Beauty Shop, in Colonie, where she worked alongside her mother, Rosella, and sister, Corinne. Rosella was a lifetime member of St. Margaret Mary’s (All Saints Catholic Church), the German/American Club (Shutzen Park, Colonie), the Zaloga Post (where she had many nights of singing and dancing amongst friends and family), Colonie Senior Singers at Thunder Road, Ciccotti Center Colonie, and the Ramada Inn Swim Club as well as playing bocce at the Italian Benevolet Society in Albany.
Rosella enjoyed gardening, singing, dancing, swimming, crocheting Afghans for anyone who needed some love, and praying the Rosary for anyone who needed a prayer. She was known for her positive attitude, and her famous mottos: “Life is good”, “I’m in good shape for the shape I’m in”, “You need a little lipstick”, and as you were walking out the door, and said “see you tomorrow”, she’d reply: “If the creek don’t rise.” Above all, Rosella cherished the time she spent with her family at Minerva Lake, and especially her grandchildren, whom she taught how to read, swim, and bake, and would enjoy their trips to Stewart’s for hotdogs.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward L. Slauson; son, Robert Slauson; brother, Francis “Bud” Roberts; sister, Corinne Barclay; father-figure, Norton Grady.
Rosella is survived by her daughters, Mary Corinne “Corie” Slauson Multari, Carolyn Barbara “Lynn” Slauson Jones (Jeff); grandchilden, Eric Slauson (Antonia), Jillian Multari, Whitney Multari, Angelo Multari, Angelina Multari, Taylor Muztafago, Olivia Muztafago, Paul Jones, Micaela Scotti (Will); great-grandchildren, Adrian and Sofia Slauson; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins to cherish her memory.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Rosella’s caretakers for their compassionate care throughout the years: Christine, Sean, Maggie, Madison, Alex, Asia, Barbara, Jeanne, and Kristen.
Calling hours will be held on August 29, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow, at All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany, NY 12203. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
