Ronald J. Unser, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Ronald proudly served in the US Navy on the USS John Paul Jones from 1958 to 1962. Following his time in the Navy, Ron joined the workforce working for various places. Some include Bumpstead Chevrolet, Sears Automotive, Penske Automotive and most recently with Lowes in Glenmont.
In his free time, Ron had many different passions and hobbies. He owned and cared for his harness horses in Saratoga Springs. He had a deep passion for cars, always making sure he had the newest model and it was well cared for. Ron enjoyed his casino field trips, and was grateful when anyone would join. He was also an avid bowler and proprietor of Sporthaven Lanes. Many would describe Ron as a humorous, hardworking, caring man. However, above all, his biggest trait was that he was a family man.
He was predeceased by his mother, Josephine Grosbeck and sister Joanne Unser. Also, by his first wife Shirley Ann Unser, stepdaughter Janet Holton, and grandson Timothy Cuddihy.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Connie Jasiewicz. His children, Ron (Michele) Unser, Connie (Scott Wik) Unser, Denise (Arthur) Estep, and Susan (Jeff) Barnes. In addition to his stepdaughter, Lynn Bossard. His siblings, Jerry (Kathy) Unser and Bridget (Bob) Schacter. As well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their love and sincerest thanks to his granddaughter, Tiffany Barnes, for her devotion and care to her Poppy. As well as to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital and Hospice Inn.
Friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a service to immediately follow at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189. Burial will be held at St. Agnes cemetery, Menands.
