Ronald Patrick Prescott, 77, of Schenectady, New York passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025. Ronald was born on March 13, 1948 in Georgetown, Guyana to the late Herman Bacchus/Prescott and Gloria Veronica Heywood of Mississauga, Ontario.

After completing College of Preceptors college entrance exams, Ronald began his early career with the Guyana Daily Chronicle as a Messenger, then Stock Records Clerk. One year later, Ronald joined Fogarty’s LTD as a Sales Clerk, where over the next fourteen years he rose to the level of Department Sales Manager. On August 18, 1981, Ronald and family immigrated to the United States, where he worked for Albany Medical Center Hospital until retirement in June 2012. Over his 31 year career at Albany Medical Center, Ronald’s Patient Care Maintenance group developed extensive expertise troubleshooting and repairing medical systems leading to the establishment of a Biomedical Engineering group. While working at Albany Medical Center, he also worked at Sears & Roebuck for five years as a sales associate. Ronald, known for his quiet, steady and kind hearted demeanor, was devoted to his family and endeared by all who knew him. Affectionately referred to as “Pressy”, by his closest friends, Ronald was fond of playing dominos for the Clerico Domino Club in Guyana, playing Wicket Keeper and Batsman for cricket clubs in the Capital District, freshwater fishing, and most notably wagering on thoroughbred horse racing.

His memories will live on through his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Yvonne B. Prescott; children Sharon Prescott, Ronald Prescott Jnr. (spouse Carrie); grandchildren Jeremy Collins, Ronald Prescott, and Jonathan Prescott; mother Gloria Veronica Heywood; siblings Patricia Matthews (spouse Peter), Oswald Heywood (Spouse Lazara), Clive Bacchus (Spouse Mona), Eon Bacchus, Sherry Bacchus and others; Aunts Claudia Heywood and Lynette Heywood; and cousins Lennox Mitchell, George Mitchell, Trevor Mitchell, Nigel Mitchell, Colin Heywood, Neil Heywood, Stephen Heywood, Wendy Heywood, Marlyn Heywood, Colleen Heywood, Amanda Heywood, Nicole Heywood, Felicity Heywood, and many others.

Ronald is also survived by sister-in-laws Sherry Moyce, Lucille Harper, Amanda Hall, Joan Abrams, Moreen McLennan (spouse Brian Mclennan), and Cheryl Hall; nieces and nephews Natasha Matthews (spouse Harold), Janelle Matthews, Melissa Matthews-Nembhard (spouse Denroy), Ronda Nunes (spouse Ricky Snr.), Nicky Pobee Mensah, Scott Spruill Hall, Diann Gerson, Wayne Moyce, Julie Hester, Lydia Kate, Gail, Leah Canton (spouse Jeffrey), Llouana Harper-Louis (spouse Richard), Christopher Hall, André Abrams (spouse Katinea Miller), Alexis Abrams (spouse Morris Blake), Antón Abrams, Brian McLennan Jnr., Sophia McLennan, Roseanne McLennan (God daughter), Monique Marshall, Douglas Watson Jnr., Donna Hercules, Damon Bacchus, Akeem Bacchus, Jomo Bacchus, Theanica Bacchus, Travis Bacchus, and Shennel Bacchus; and many more grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to his father, Herman Bacchus/Prescott, Ronald was predeceased by his father-in-law Robert Hall, mother-in-law Walterine Hall, brother-in-laws Robert Hall Jnr., Robert Ashford, Oswald Abrams, and Stanley Harper; sister-in-law Norma Hall; aunt Leila Mitchell; and uncles Dennis Heywood, Wilfred Heywood, George Heywood, Edward Heywood, and Cuthbert Heywood; cousin Orin Mitchell; nephews Garry Elliott and Terell Spruill-Hall; grandchildren Sean Prescott and Theresa Prescott; and grandnephew Andre Elliott. Left also to remember and mourn Ronald, are his fellow parishioners, co-workers, and friends.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 7:30am to 9:00am at St. Joan of Arc Church & Black Catholic Apostolate, 76 Menand Rd, Albany, NY 12204 with a Catholic Mass of Christian burial til 11am. Internment will immediately follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Ave, Menands, NY 12204.
