Ronald M. Smith

Ronald M. Smith, 84, of Schenectady NY, husband to Joy E. (Townsend) Smith, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

Born October 11, 1940, he was the son of the late Donald and Ester (Bard) Smith.

After school, Ron went on to start his own company as a painter, and several years later he went on to drive a truck at Mobile Air Transport, Latham NY.

Ron is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Joy, his daughter Tammy, and his grandchildren Kevin and Timmy and two great-grandsons; his brother Donald (Liz) Smith of Fl.; sister-in-law Debra (Gus) Papanikos; brother-in-law Eric Townsend; several nieces and nephews; his dear friends Mary and Denise. He will be especially missed by his cat Riley and dog Reba. 

In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brother David.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday September 17, 2025, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. Thereafter, a graveside service will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie NY.
