Clifton Park -- Ronald J. Hogan, 89, died September 29, 2026, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. He resided in Clifton Park since 1985.
Born in Plattsburg, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Borst) Hogan.
He was a graduate of Troy High School (‘54) and Russell Sage College (‘73).
Mr. Hogan was an Air Force veteran having served from 1955 until 1964. After leaving service, he worked for Albany Medical Center Hospital and the Albany Medical College as an operating room technician. In 1967, he was employed by IBM in Kingston NY as a computer operator and later at the Watervliet Arsenal. During his tenure at the arsenal, he served in many capacities within the computer automation arena, including the position of Director of Information Systems. He was also an officer in the Federal Managers Association. He retired from federal service in 1994.
Husband of Arlene M. (Giroux) Hogan; father of Kathleen Ann (Hogan) Clark and her husband Larry of Hemet, CA; Michelle Rene (Hogan) Sausville and her husband Greg of Eagle Mills, NY and Kevin C. Hogan and his wife Kelly (Chichester) of Wilton, NY. Brother of Richard B. Hogan (deceased) and his wife Christine (Swanson) of Port St. Luci, FL; Joseph M. Hogan and his wife Diane (Peetz) of Clifton Park; Elaine P. (Hogan) Schlegel and her husband Larry of Oakridge, NJ. Grandfather of Zach, Kristen, Ryan and Austin Clark of Hemet, CA and Katelyn and Connor Hogan of Wilton, NY. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, from 4 to 7pm with a time to share memories immediately afterward at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189. Burial will be held the following day, Friday, October 9, at 10am at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY 12871.
