Robin K. Millán, 72, loving wife of Hector Millán, and devoted mother of Carlos H. Millán, passed away on September 3, 2025, at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, after a long battle with cancer.
Robin was born on September 21, 1952, to the late Richard and Doris Klemfuss, in Jackson Heights, NY. She was raised in Huntington, NY, where she graduated from Walt Whitman High School in 1970. She pursued a higher education and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the State University of New York at Albany. This was followed by a Master of Public Administration degree from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy at the University at Albany.
After completing her graduate studies, Robin entered public service and spent the majority of her career working for the New York State Department of Civil Service in the Division of Classification & Compensation. Robin’s unique ability to consistently produce succinct, clear, and comprehensive reports resulted in her advancing to the position of Chief Classification & Pay Analyst. The quality of Robin’s work also led to her being selected to create, research, write, and edit, the New York State Agency Manual for Classification & Compensation Requests, which is still widely used by state agencies nearly two decades after its original publication.
Following her retirement in 2008, Robin devoted her time to conducting genealogical research, reading historical literature, and traveling. However, Robin’s greatest passion was for her family.
She is survived by Hector Millán her devoted husband of 39 years, and their son, Carlos H. Millán.
The Millán family would also like to thank Dr. Clifton C. Mo, and his entire staff at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, as well as at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, for the compassionate and dedicated care they provided to Robin.
