TROY – Robert Schermerhorn, 70, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at home after a long illness. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Augustus William and Anna Leona (Fritz) Schermerhorn.
Robert enjoyed working for Rennselaer County Social Services as a driver for close to 30 years. He was a good friend to many.
Robert is survived by his loving companion of 35 years, Paula Dingman; son Scott (Jessica) Dukett, and grandson Brandon Way.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 12:30 pm at the Gardner Earl Memorial Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery, 186 Oakwood Avenue, Troy. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:30 to 12:30 pm at the Memorial Chapel.
In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204, in Robert's name.
