Robert R. Lynch
October 19, 1943 - September 14, 2025.
Robert R. Lynch, a devoted public servant and proud veteran, passed away after a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Born in Albany, NY, Robert was the son of the late Delores McLaughlin Lynch and John H. Lynch II. He was predeceased by his brother, John H. Lynch III.
Raised in Albany, NY, Robert made Guilderland, NY his home beginning in 1973, where he built a life rooted in service, dedication, and community. He is survived by his loving daughter Tamara Sigond, son-in-law Vincent Sigond, and cherished granddaughter Cassandra Sigond. He also leaves behind Marie Joukowsky, his beloved companion of 26 years.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968, and continued his commitment to national service in the Army Reserves for two decades. A lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) since 1971, Robert remained deeply connected to the veteran community throughout his life.
His career with the New York State Court of Claims spanned over 30 years, where he served as a court attendant with integrity and professionalism. During his tenure, he also served for several years as an officer in the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) Judiciary Union, advocating for the rights and welfare of his fellow judicial employees.
Robert’s dedication to public service extended beyond his career-he was a passionate and active member of the Guilderland Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years. Whether responding to emergencies or supporting community events, he exemplified the spirit of volunteerism and civic duty.
Robert believed deeply in helping others and lived a life that reflected that belief. His legacy is one of quiet strength, unwavering commitment, and heartfelt service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CUREPSP, 325 Hudson St., 4th Floor, New York, NY 10013, to support research and awareness for the disease that he faced with such courage.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at Our Lady of Mercy for the love and care given to Bob and his family.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday with a brief prayer at 11am before burial with full military honors at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Honors will begin at 12:30pm.
