Robert W. Hall, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Ellis hospital with his loving family by his side.
Bob was born on August 4, 1920 to the late Thomas and Catherine Hall of Hoosick Falls, NY.
Bob grew up during the Great Depression; he lost his mother when he was 7 years old and his father when he was 16.
He moved to Albany to live with his sister Annice Hall Barber and graduated from High School at the Vincentian Institute in 1940.
Bob served as a UHF Radio Mechanic in the Pacific Theater in WWII serving with the 5th Army Air Force, 35th Fighter Group, rising to the rank of Sergeant.
He was awarded the Soldiers Medal for Valor when he and several others removed a pilot from a burning plane. Prior to the war, Bob worked at GE in Schenectady and after the war he worked for Henzel Powers as an Electronics Technician followed by 29 years as an area Maintenance Specialist with the USPS supporting Post Offices from Plattsburg to Kingston and Albany to Utica.
In addition to his parents, Bob is also predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Coburn Hall, and his daughter Kathleen Robusto.
He will be remembered for his tenacity, strong Christian family values, standing up for his beliefs and his ability to fix just about anything.
Bob is survived by his children, Barbara (Michael) Mone, Patricia Hall and Thomas (Jill) Hall; his 6 grandchildren; Eric, Chris, Brian, Elizabeth, Jessica and Sydney and 6 great grandchildren.
The Hall family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Ingersoll in Niskayuna and Schenectady County Hospice for all of their care and kindness.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, New York from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. Entombment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery (Menands).
