SCHENECTADY- Robert J. Gormley, 93, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, April 25, 2015.
Robert was born to the late John and Diane Gormley on January 28, 1922 in Cohoes, NY. Robert was a veteran of WWII where he served as a staff sergeant. He was a District Sales Manager for Henzel Powers before retiring. Bob's passing ends the legacy of "The Seven Golfing Gormley's". He served on the board of directors at Ballston Spa Country Club and was Master of Ceremonies for many events. As an avid golfer he scored four Holes-In-One.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Eleanor, of 54 years. Together they had five daughters; Carol (Thomas Michael) O'Brien, Eleanor(Frank) Dymond, Dianne Peters, Lori Juliano, Roberta (Ed) Canavan, his ten grandchildren; Christopher (Nicole), Mike (Lisa), Joey (Tracy), Frank (Lisa), Bobby (Mandy), Amy (Rob), Josh (Suzie), Scott (Jessy), Casey (Bri) and Tim, his great grandchildren; Madison, Faith, Olivia, Caleb, Evelyn, Taylor, Kaydence, Jacob, Callie, Addison, Timothy, Kody, and Anna, his beloved sister-in-law, Inga Fredenburgh, his nephew, Col. Paul H. (Lisa) Fredenburgh, his niece, Heidi Wise, and his step-grandchildren; Joe (Kate), Sean, and Chris.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday April 28, 2015, at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, from 5:00-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 9:00am at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 1801 Union St, Schenectady, NY 12309
