Robert George Smith, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at the Schenectady Center.

Bob was the son of the late George and Madeline Smith. Bob was the devoted husband of 25 years, to the late Dorothy (Greenwood) Smith.

Bob served with the United States Army as an Armor Track Vehicle Mechanic during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Berlin Wall Crisis.

Bob was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was active in the ministry until his passing.

Bob was an avid reader, enjoyed Military History, Westerns, mysteries and loved listening to music and old radio shows. He enjoyed watching movies, YouTube videos and joking around with his friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife he was predeceased by his younger sister Linda Jorgensen.

Bob is survived by his children, Laura (John) Livingston and Jarrett (Audra) Smith, his sisters, Susan (Herb) Eschbach and Jo Anne Salerno. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Heather Livingston and CJ Greenwood and one great grandchild, Mikayla Greenwood.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1720 Albany St. Schenectady, NY at 2:00pm. Inurnment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville on Thursday August 27, 2026 at 11:30 am.
