Robert-Francis Matthews

Br. Robert-Francis Matthews, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the VA Hospital, with loving family by side. Robert was the son of the late William and Eleanor Matthews.

He was the devoted husband of over 30 years to Carol J. (Flint) Matthews.

Robert was a Korean War Veteran from the United States Marine Corps. He was a retired Private Investigator and a Franciscan Brother.

He was very religious, loved his family and was an avid Yankee fan.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his children, Robert Jr., David, Russell, Noelle and Colleen.

Robert is survived by his wife Carol, his children, Cheryl (David) Ryan, Marybeth Matthews, Helen Decheck, Sherri Hallenbeck and Richard (Kimberly) Hallenbeck as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY on Sunday June 28, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday June 29, 2026 at 9:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, New York.
